How to Use Magic Away Liquid Concealer
Always begin with prepped skin which means it should be cleansed, toned and moisturized. Apply your preferred makeup base: primer, tinted moisturizer, foundation or BB/CC cream on the areas that need extra coverage.
Next, apply Charlotte Tilbury concealer onto the red areas and blemishes. From there blend using your fingers, sponge, brush or beauty blender. Blend out the edges by using a tapping or dragging motion. Apply only a light touch!
For a barely there makeup look, you may opt to leave out your foundation or BB/CC cream. How? After applying concealer, just top it off with Charlotte Tilbury’s Genius Magic Powder ($45) for a flawless finish.
To illuminate your eye area, use a lighter shade to cover your under-eye circles then gently tap with your fingers to blend. The skin around the eyes is sensitive and prone to drying.
If you already have fine lines in this area, apply moisturizer around your eyes including the lids. Remember, do not apply concealer on your eyelids, eye bags, and crow’s feet.
Charlotte recommends to use Magic Miracle Precision beauty blender to apply concealer straight on to your skin, then blend with your ring finger for a flawless finish.
To avoid a mismatch, you will need two shades of concealer. What do we mean by a mismatch? This is a situation whereby one concealer is too light or dark to your skin tone.
Use a concealer that is perfectly matched to your skin tone so that it can mask blemishes, redness and dark spots. Apply another one for your dark circles which should be a shade lighter than the skin tone shade. This will instantly brighten up your eye area.
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Liquid Concealer Review
We were amazed at how this concealer magically melted into our skin and left a close-to-nothing-feel despite its stretchy texture. It’s surprising that it’s not cakey or chalky at all. That effective thin elastic layer is credited to its special ingredient – Persian silk tree bark extract. We also love it smoothly glides onto the skin.
Unlike other concealers that seem to create a layer of mask on top of your skin, this one uniquely blurs imperfections with a sheer veil similar to Spanx (the pantyhose) effect. It really made our dark circles, blemishes, fine lines and redness disappear without a trace. Plus, our face lit up instantly like it was lifted from within.
Touted as “Spanx for your under-eye bags”, Charlotte Tilbury stayed true to her word and delivered beyond expectations. That airbrushed effect on the face is really amazingly fabulous! She wasn’t kidding when she said this concealer is good enough to make your wishes come true.
There is a gamut of makeup products out there and beauty junkies know all too well that many didn’t live up to the hype. We couldn’t be happier when we realized that Tilbury Beauty didn’t disappoint. Believe us, this magic concealer is one amazing creation that will turn into a classic fave. Truly one for keeps. Experience Charlotte Tilbury’s magic and add one to your beauty stash.
How to Choose the Right Concealer for Your Face
Keep in mind that foundation should perfectly match your skin tone whereas your concealer should be one shade or two lighter than your skin.
However, if you will use concealer to cover pimples it is best to get one that exactly matches your skin tone. A yellow based concealer suits most women. For dark skinned women, an orange based concealer is better.
Never purchase without trying the product. It is always best to test where there’s plenty of natural light coming in. Pick three shades that match your skin tone then apply in swipes onto your jawline before blending. The one that seems to disappear into your skin is your best match.
To find the best shade for your under eye area, test the concealer on the inside of your wrist. If your veins disappear, you found your match.
Remember, no matter how dark your under eye circles are, don’t attempt to get a concealer that’s way too light. You will end up with raccoon eyes if you go overboard.
If you have bluish under eye circles and cool skin tone, get a pale peach concealer. If you have purple under eye circles and warm skin tone, your concealer should be yellow toned. For puffy eyes, use a concealer that perfectly matches your skin tone or same shade as your foundation.
If you have dry skin, avoid concealer with a matte finish because it will emphasize your skin’s dryness and use liquid concealer instead.
For oily skin with enlarged pores, avoid using creamy or stick concealers because these types will magnify your skin’s imperfections rather than hide them. Powder, cream, mattifying concealers are better for you.
You can also use concealers for highlighting and contouring. For highlighting, pick a concealer that’s three to four shades lighter than your skin tone. For contouring, choose one that’s three to four shades darker.
